This unbalanced AI also has some weird and unexplainable side-effects, making certain opponents almost invincible. Generally, a rather sloppy job by the programmers. But in all honesty, despite the game's many flaws, X2: Wolverine's Revenge is not all bad. Good ol' Wolverine can slip through enemy ranks using his animal instincts and slyness. Basically there are two ways you can attack: you can jump straight into action and engage in combat against multiple opponents or you can enter the sneak-mode which changes Wolverine's perception of the surroundings and he can see and feel things a lot easier.
This mode alters the hues and colors of the environment, highlighting body warmth, footprints, and stuff like that - in a way similar to Predator's thermal vision. Besides that, Wolverine has the advantage of his special abilities that give him the chance to creep up behind troops slowly, quietly, and undetected.
This kind of approach is quite effective and in many cases instantaneously lethal, and, thankfully, very easy to carry out. It also adds an RPG-like flavor to the gameplay, allowing your character to plan his moves and attacks in advance as he progresses through the game. Logan finds out about the virus thanks to Beast and Professor Xavier. Now we only have 48 hours to find the cure to this virus, but to do so we'll have to face legendary X-men enemies like Magneto and Sabertooth. This game gives us a lot of stories about the character, and while the comics universe is varied and there are always different universes, this one is pretty cool. We have to keep in mind that even with how popular Wolverine is, it can't compare with Spider-Man when it comes to video games.
This is why this title isn't really as solid as games from around the same time as Ultimate Spiderman. But they're all appallingly implemented. There were moments where the bad design and even worse conversion hang-ups, had me having to control my own temper.
Oh, and it's bugged to buggery too. Crashes and clipping problems are common. About the only saving grace is the voice acting, especially Mark Hamill's surprising effectiveness as Wolverine. Who would have thought squeaky Skywalker had it in him?

Basically there are two ways you can attack: you can jump straight into action and engage in combat against multiple opponents or you can enter the sneak-mode which changes Wolverine's perception of the surroundings and he can see and feel things a lot easier.
This mode alters the hues and colors of the environment, highlighting body warmth, footprints, and stuff like that - in a way similar to Predator's thermal vision. Besides that, Wolverine has the advantage of his special abilities that give him the chance to creep up behind troops slowly, quietly, and undetected.
This kind of approach is quite effective and in many cases instantaneously lethal, and, thankfully, very easy to carry out. It also adds an RPG-like flavor to the gameplay, allowing your character to plan his moves and attacks in advance as he progresses through the game.
The visuals aren't brilliant, but they're not bad either. There are a number of nice touches here and there such as smoke and fog, nice particle effects, etc. The explosions and lighting effects seem to work rather well, putting on a highly-detailed and colorful "light show. Anyhow, one of the rare positive aspects of the game can be attributed to well-designed characters and the enjoyable movie-like atmosphere. Besides the good artwork and decent character animation, the game was infused with a number of interesting features that make it exciting to play.
